Third Grade News – Week of January 25-29, 2021
It’s that time of year, some students need to replenish pencils and glue sticks. If your child is in need, please send some in with them in the next week if possible. As a reminder, we are not sharing supplies this year. Purple CJ folders- Inside these folders you will find your child's schedule, the classroom expectations, a January calendar, and lined paper. The calendar is used for communication. If your child has a good day, they will receive a stamp daily. Teachers will use the stamps as a class reward system. If the teacher needs to communicate with the parent, the teacher will write in the specific dated box or on the lined paper. These should be coming home daily for you to check. Reading: We are continuing to read the novel Because of Winn Dixie. This Tuesday the students will have a quiz that covers the material we have covered so far. We will also take a closer look at the progression of stories and the role that secondary characters play. Grammar: Last week we introduced possessive nouns. This week we will spend some time reviewing the rules of subject/verb agreement and possessive nouns. A review worksheet will be sent home for homework, this is optional. Then we will assess both of these skills on Friday, January 29 (January 28th for TAG students). Shark group: This week we will review propositional phrases and test Thursday, January 28th. A review worksheet will be sent home for homework, this is optional. Phonics: This week students will learn all about the suffix -ly.
